SECURITY at Greenmeadow Community Farm will be tighter than ever tomorrow, after a generous firm offered to install £3,000 worth of CCTV cameras around the site.

Cwmbran based company, Weston Security, will install CCTV cameras around the farm after being horrified by the attack of Cheeky the donkey.

Paul Hartshorn, operations director at the company, said their staff were ‘up in arms’ after hearing of the animal had been brutally stabbed no less than 12 times on Saturday evening.

The company, run by Simon Weston, went to the farm today to offer their services in an effort to give something back to the much loved community facility.

“The CCTV that they [the farm] have got at the moment isn’t doing what it should be doing,” Mr Hartshorn said.

“So we are going to upgrade what they have got there and get new cameras there to make sure the animals are safe.

“The story has touched me as my children all went there when they were growing up and they loved going to see the animals and would get excited by it.

“Greenmeadow farm is a jewel in the crown.

“It is beautiful and it is not just for Cwmbran, it is beneficial to Caerphilly and Newport too.

“At the end of the day we have a good relationship with Torfaen council and they have helped to support our business so we felt it was time to give something back.”

Two engineers will be on site along with Mr Hartshom himself tomorrow to install at least two CCTV cameras, worth £3,000 which will pick up images at night.

Kate Holly commercial manager at Greenmeadow Community Farm, said: “We have been blown away by the support that we have had.

“The cameras will enable us to have increased security on the farm to protect the animals.

“We are so appreciative that this is being done- this is what a community farm is all about.”
