THERE are delays in Chepstow after a woman suffered a “medical emergency” in her car, police have said.

A Gwent Police spokesman said officers were called to the High Beech roundabout at 9.12am and are providing assistance to the woman.

A police spokesman said: "Emergency services were called today to High Beech roundabout, Newhouse (A466), Chepstow to reports that a 44-year-old woman had suffered a medical episode whilst driving. The woman is currently being treated by ambulance staff and is being taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital."

He added there had been no collision and that a road closure on Hardwick Hill is expected to be temporary until the woman is removed from the road.

"The road has been closed but will reopen shortly," the spokesman added.

Police are diverting people coming off the M48 into Chepstow past the Newhouse roundabout through Bulwark.
