GWENT Police put on a special dog trials event at Cwmbran Stadium today.
The force’s own canines were put through their paces and competed against each other in obedience, agility and criminal work skills and tests at the Gwent Police Dog Trials.
Paul Harris, Gwent's Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, was at the event and said it was a “good turnout from the public and great occasion for our dog section”.
He added: “Trials are fun to watch but directly related to skills they use every day.”
The trials are set up in order for the force to select the dog and handler to represent Gwent Police at the regional trials next year.
Admission was free to see the trials, which took place between 8am and 4pm.
No pet dogs were permitted to enter the event or Cwmbran Stadium.
In March this year, the South West and Wales Regional Police Dog Trials 2014 were also held at Cwmbran Stadium.
