BT NEWPORT 999 Centre has teamed up with the Royal Voluntary Service’s local Newport Good Neighbours scheme, to give older people in the local area a Christmas to remember.
Joanne Goodwin, an advisor from the contact centre came up with the idea of Christmas hampers for older people and through the generosity of her colleagues and local businesses, they have made up 19 hampers.
On Tuesday, Marjorie Ovens, 97, from Caerleon and Betty Jenkins, 81, Ponthir went to the BT headquarters to receive their Christmas hamper.
Fiona Alderman, Service Manager for Newport Good Neighbours said: “We are delighted with the hampers and the older people we visit will really appreciate everything the BT staff has done to make this possible.
“It’s a great opportunity for our charity to work with local businesses.”
