CREWS from Maindee fire station were called out to two grass fires on Tuesday night.
Firefighters were first called to a grass fire near Llanwern Social Club, next to Newport Retail Park, at around 8.11pm
Crews were also called out to another deliberate grass fire on Caerleon Road, near the St Julian Inn, at 9.43pm.
Firefighters used beaters to tackle the blaze and left the scene at 10.06pm.
At around 9am on Wednesday morning crews from Abergavenny were called out to a grass fire on the A449 near Usk, but when they attended the scene the fire had already burnt itself out.
The call was marked a false alarm with good intent.
