A CWMBRAN mum said she was gobsmacked after realising a kind-hearted stranger had donated £4,000 on her fundraising page.

Two weeks ago, Naomi Wilkins, 36, set up a fundraising page to raise money for a specially trained dog for her five year old son, Greyson, who has autism.

Donations from family and friends started to roll in - and then a complete stranger boosted her much closer to her total by donating £4,000, leaving the message “Go get your dog little man”.

She said: “I just couldn’t believe it. You just don’t expect someone to be so kind as things like this just don’t happen for people like me.

“I just can’t thank her enough.”

After creating the page, Miss Wilkins posted the link to the fundraising page on Facebook and asked people to share it to help to spread news of her fundraising efforts further.

“This person is a complete stranger so maybe she saw it on Facebook. It’s just so wonderful of her,” she added.

“I have messaged her back through the fundraising page to say thank you, but I wanted to thank her publicly as she has made our fundraising total of £6,000 so much more achievable.”

Miss Wilkins, from Fairwater, explained that Greyson, who was diagnosed with autism at three years of age, has no sense of danger and needs constant attention and reassurance from her.

She explained that the benefits would be fantastic for Greyson as he would gain a true friend and companion, which would see his anxieties reduced as well as taking some pressure off her.

The dog is trained to provide comfort and distraction from aggressive behaviour and can guide Greyson away from dangers and running off.

She added: “Getting Greyson the dog will be a dream come true and that person really had made it happen.”
