This weekend, rail passengers will finally be able to travel direct between Newport and EbbW Vale when a direct service begins on Saturday.
However, despite an Argus campaign launched over ten years ago and calls from Newport politicians, business people and transport users, the change will be brief.
Engineering works over the weekend mean the regular service between Ebbw Vale and Cardiff will not run. A rail replacement bus service will run between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town until 10.00am on Saturday.
From then on, all Ebbw Valley services will run between Ebbw Vale Town and Newport. All rail services between Cardiff and Newport will also be replaced by a bus service this weekend.
There will also be a rail replacement bus service between Cardiff Central and Pye Corner.
