A JUDGE yesterday warned a Newport man who burgled his own mother's house that he would be keeping a close eye on him.

Twenty-year-old Mark Jarvis was given a community order in March after he pleaded guilty to burglary.

He was brought back to Newport crown court yon Friday after admitting he breached the order the same month by failing to keep appointments.

The court heard Jarvis went into his mother's home and took two computer games. Both were returned.

Jarvis was also given a community order in December for other burglaries at his mother's house.

Leighton Hughes, defending, said Jarvis has returned to his mother's home in Swallow Way, Duffryn, and is now drug free and working.

Judge John Curran said the probation service is still prepared to work with Jarvis, who is getting on top of his drug problem.

The judge allowed the order to continue but extended the drug rehabilitation requirement by a month.

"I will be keeping a close eye on this order and I will be checking on you. Next time you come here you will be facing custody," he told Jarvis.
