EASTER VESTRY MEETING - SKENFRITH: St. Bridget's Easter Vestry meeting will be held this year on Wednesday, 25th April at 7pm in the church.

This is the parish AGM, when the reports on the various church activities are given. The Annual Vestry meeting is open to all parishioners, but only those whose names are on the parish electoral roll can vote to elect churchwardens, PCC members and sides-people.

In this year, 2007, when the ancient church of St.Bridget celebrates the 800th year of its foundation, it would be an opportunity to find out what is planned for the church in the immediate future.

It would perhaps be appropriate now to mention, again, that the constitution of the Church in Wales allows anyone to attend PCC meetings - but only to listen. They cannot speak or vote.

SKENFRITH BOOK CLUB: At the last meeting of the Book Club the group discussed the book "Black Gold of the Sun" by Ekow Eshun.

This book, which tells the story of the author's search for his identity and to discover where he belongs in the world, provoked a good deal of serious discussion. As always there were very different views about the book and its author. The choice of book for the next meeting in May is Thomas Hardy's "The Mayor of Casterbridge".

For details of the next meeting - date and venue - please contact Linda on 01600 750512 or Jo on 01600 750682.

CONCERT - NORTON BAPTIST CHURCH: The concert on Wednesday, 25th April at Norton Baptist Church near Skenfrith, starts at 7pm. Tickets are £3.50 or pay at the door. Please come. Proceeds for Liam's Fund for a light-weight artificial arm.

SUPPER CLUB: At the last Supper Club held recently, six bottles of New Zealand wine donated for Liam's Fund (see above item) were auctioned and raised £30 for the fund.
