English Democrats National Council member and activist, and works as a freelance Commercial and Project Manager.

Steve is 43 years old and married with 2 children, he is passionate about fair play, democracy and the maintenance of traditional counties.

Early in 2005, Steve became aware that the status of Monmouthshire was disputed and began to carry out some preliminary research.

Posts were made on the internet to indicate that the English Democrats were considering standing in the Welsh Assembly Elections.

Shortly after this time a local paper got hold of the story, and Elwin Jones from Abergeveny, contacted Steve to explain that he had 30 years of research, confirming that Monmouthshire had been moved from England in 1972 to Wales without any public consultation or debate.

The fact that Monmouthshire was in England in 1972 was confirmed by several government organisations including the Ordnance Survey Map, and the Welsh office.

The records of the House of Commons (Hansard) also show what an underhand way, in which the transfer to place in 1972.

The evidence was presented to the English Democrats National Council and it was agreed that the Letting Monmouthshire Decide Campaign would be the focus of our 2007 political activity.

With the break-up of the United Kingdom now becoming increasing likely, either into independent states or as a Federal State, the country that Monmouthsire is in, becomes increasingly important.

Due to the subsidies that England gives Wales, as directed by the Labour government and previous Conservative Government, then Monmouthshire is probably "better off" in Wales, however in 5 or 10 years time, when England stops giving Wales money, then this may be a different situation.

The East of Traditional Monmouthshire, now ironically called Monmouthshire has an English feel to its as an area and certainly the towns have English names.

It is only fair and right that the people of Monmouthshire are given an option to decided democratically which side of the border Monmouthshire resides.

There are many Welsh MPs in the Westminister Parliament, so an English AM in the Welsh Assembly will only be fair!

It is quite simple for the people of Monmouthshire, if they wish to be moved back to England they need to vote English Democrats if they wish to stay in Wales they should vote Plaid Cymru.

Votes for any other parties will indicate that the people of Monmouthshire simply don't care!
