I was born in Northern Ireland, and after graduating in engineering I broke my apprenticeship in Harland and Wolff's shipyard to get a better job in England.

I stayed with that firm when it moved to Newport, rising to Engineering Director at Newelco Uskside before retirement.

My sport has always been caving, including cave diving, although with increasing age I have moved from sporting caving towards scientific caving.

I have enjoyed over 30 years of singing in the Cwmbran Baroque Singers.

I believe that I have lived in the best period for humans on earth with an organic childhood and a prosperous later life spent in one of the best countries in the world.

I feel that I have a duty to persuade people of the importance of preserving the natural goodness of the world so that it can be passed on to later generations.

I express this by voluntary work for the Green Party.

The Green Party has two aims, to improve the present quality of life and to preserve the planet as far as possible for the benefit of future generations.

The traditional political parties are based on exploiting the environment for the benefit of their supporters, and although the dangers of climate change are now seen by them, long after the Green Party, they have not changed their basic philosophy.

For example New Labour are pressing for the M4 bypass around Newport, although by completion in 2014 they plan to have cut carbon dioxide emissions by some 8 percent, which must include a similar figure for traffic mileage reduction.

The Green Party propose immediate relief of congestion by reverting to the original design of the Malpas Road junction with the two Eastern slip roads closed.

Prudent car drivers slow down because of the risks these pose causing jams.

The Liberal Democrats have in Councils driven bypass roads through beautiful countryside while the Green Party have joined the protests against damage to sites of special scientific interest.

Plaid Cymru support the building of a new nuclear power station, despite the risks of catastrophic failure and the continual release of small amounts of radioactive materials causing local cancers.

The Green Party works for numerous small local developments giving local employment, retaining wealth in the local community and avoiding dependence on overseas companies.

For a better future for our children vote Green Party in the Welsh Assembly list.
