As a widow of a former miner with four children and three grandchildren living in South East Wales, it is a pleasure to see the regeneration and opportunities delivered by the Labour Welsh Assembly Government over its first two terms.

My late husband's experiences in the mining and steel industries and as a Labour councillor sparked my passion for the long-term rebuilding of our communities; a passion I would harness to serve the people of Wales should I be privileged enough to be elected.

The Labour Party's achievements in office are worth reminding ourselves of:
- 140,000 extra jobs
- Hospital waiting times at their lowest levels since records began
- Free bus travel for over 60s and disabled people
- Free prescriptions for all
- Free swimming for children and pensioners - Record investment improving standards in schools and hospitals
- 20% fall in the number of children living in poverty in Wales
- Free entry to museums and galleries
If elected, the Labour Party will continue with and build on these policies as well as pledging the following:
- £20 million investment in the youth service, giving our young people more to do
- Investment of £450 million in affordable housing
- Extra support for child care
- Maximum 26 weeks NHS waiting times from referral to treatment
- A top-up to the Child Trust Fund of between £50 and £100 for all children entering school
- Crackdown on litter and graffiti
Born and raised in Abersychan, I have been both a housewife, working mother and latterly achieved a bachelor and masters degree as a mature student.

My career has ranged from working for a Local Authority to helping establish a project aimed at providing training and education opportunities for communities scarred by the Corus steel job losses.

My life and professional experience has armed me with the determination to do all I can to help address the issues that affect our everyday lives in a very real way.

When it comes to our health, our schools, jobs, our communities, our environment and our children only a Labour Government can ensure the progress of the past ten years continues. I would be honoured to be part of that progress and to play a part in regenerating our communities and improving our services.
