Plaid Cymru - the Party of Wales is relevant to all people living in Wales, regardless of their origin or ethnicity.

Plaid Cymru has a vision for a better Wales - where the needy are looked after but where people are also rewarded for hard work and endeavour.

We have listened to the people of Wales over several months and this has helped to form our policies.

We must improve the health of our communities. Plaid would concentrate on health promotion with services based in our communities.

It is far better to help people stay well than have our hospitals constantly overflowing.

Wales has experienced a drain of manufacturing jobs. Jobs are the lifeblood of our communities. Plaid Cymru believes in encouraging locally based enterprises whose owners have loyalty to our area.

A Plaid Government would reduce the tax burden on small and medium sized businesses. More communities in Wales should benefit from jobs created by the National Assembly.

We believe in universal affordable childcare to help parents with young children to stay in jobs.

Plaid is very conscious of the plight of young people struggling to buy a home. We are proposing a £5000 grant towards a deposit on that important first home.

There is a pressing need to raise education standards for many of our pupils. Technology is extremely important for studying today.

That is why we are proposing to give a free laptop computer to every 11-year old in Wales.

We also believe in reducing the debt burden for our students in further and higher education.

Climate Change affects all of us. We must leave a world for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. The best way to cut energy use is to promote energy conservation in all our buildings.

We propose insulation grants, especially for those in financial need.Feeling safe in our communities is a huge concern for many people. We will find ways of funding more police patrols on our streets in order to tackle issues such as anti-social behaviour.

We will reverse the disastrous Labour Post Office closure programme which has caused so much hardship. Plaid policy is to make financial services accessible to all our communities.

All Plaid polices have been fully costed and can be provided within the National Assembly budget.

Thank you for taking the time to read my statement.

Working together we can make a better Wales.
