Essentially I would like to believe that every candidate in the election is standing not for personal gain and not for policies only applicable on the national level.

For example, I very much doubt a fairer deal for farmers would be of much use to city centre seat!

Although I am standing for South Wales East I am very much a rural candidate and a firm supporter of farmers and country life.

The Welsh conservatives are firm supporters or going green, as our campaign states, and personally the most important step in going green is looking after the green areas we are so lucky to have in Wales.

I must say from the start that I support fox hunting and would support the over-turning of the hunting act and oppose any efforts to turn any further field sports, such as shooting or fishing, into criminal acts.

Having grown up in Usk and still living there I am very concerned with escapes from the open prison becoming a far too regular occurrence.

I agree that the rehabilitation of criminals is a vital part of our society, but I do not believe that the current system is the right way of doing it, and certainly do not believe that have sentences cut by half or more is productive in rehabilitating criminals or removing incentive from crime in the first place.

For many people the front line of crime in Wales has become concern over anti social behaviour, I am not suggesting, by any stretch of the imagination, that we should "hug a hoodie" or label people just for wearing hooded tops".

I own a hooded top, but I don't think that means I need hugging or that I am going to commit crime.

In my humble opinion if anti-social behaviour is to be stopped then ASBOs are not the way forward.

Although some people may view it as backward I think the best solution to the problem would be bringing back an old fashioned "bobby" on the beat, and give that officer the power to do something about anti social behaviour without the concern that if he shouts at a young person he may face disciplinary over a jumped up human rights violation!

Finally I am hoping that my standing for the elections, if only on the list, will encourage more young people to get out and vote!

It is a great privilege we have in the UK and we should use it, if we don't get out and vote then we have no right to complain when decisions are made we don't support.
