SPECTACULAR photos of the Friar's Walk development from the skies have been released showing the progress of the £90million development.

Friars Walk is set to open on November 12, with businesses Le Bistrot Pierre, Nando’s, Cineworld, Prezzo, Debenhams, Burger King and Topshop all set to open premises on the eagerly-anticipated site.

The new photos provide a different perspective of how work is developing, showing off the sheer size of the space on offer.

Other high street names already signed up to feature at the retail and leisure scheme include Next, H&M and TGI Fridays.

The development, which is being built by Queensberry, who have contracted Bowmer and Kirkland, has received praise from the likes of the British Council of Shopping Centre (BCSC), where it was hailed Friars Walk as an “exemplar project”, which showed benefits of “joint public and private sector collaboration to bring forward much-needed town centre regeneration.”

It is estimated the centre will generate 1,200 jobs and about £15m in salaries alone for the Newport economy.

That is in addition to the jobs created during its construction.
