EMOTIONS were running high yesterday as a mother-of-three who has just 12 months to live married her partner of 11 years in Newport.

31-year-old Stacie Jordan was diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer in June and three weeks later doctors told her it was terminal.

Since then Ms Jordan, who is mum to Faith, eight, Grace, seven, and Joshua, five, has been ticking activities off her bucket list thanks to a online fundraising campaign which has so far raised £3,580.

Yesterday she ticked off one of the most memorable – getting married to fiancé Aron at the Holiday Inn in Newport.

Around 100 guests attended the red carpet ceremony and wedding breakfast which had a colour scheme of Cadbury’s purple.

Bridesmaids included the couple’s daughters Faith and Grace, as well as best friend Gail and Stacey. Their son Joshua was pageboy.

Couple Stacie and Aron, who are both interested in English Civil War re-enactments, were welcomed into the ceremony by a sword arch. There was also a dove release.

Joanne O’Neill, from the Holiday Inn in Newport said: “The ceremony was very touching and the bride looked beautiful.

“We were very proud and honoured to be asked to host the wedding today.”

Ms O’Neill added: “She was emotional throughout the ceremony. It was a very emotional day.”

The hotel provided a discounted wedding package for the bride and groom and also thanked local suppliers who helped donate extra touches, many of which were surprises to the couple.

Among the companies which made donations were Digital Images, Forever, Monique Quinn with flowers, Ultra Booth with the photo booth, The Play Palace with a bouncy castle, All Doved up, I Do Candy Carts, Fit for Your Princess and Paul Thompson DJ.

Band the Shrinking Violets also played at the evening reception.

Ms O’Neill added: “A lot of friends and family were involved with the preparations for the day and the room looked outstanding!”

Earlier this week Ms Jordan wrote on Facebook how she had been let out of hospital.

She said: “Being let out of hospital, which means one thing, I get to do the school run tomorrow”.
