A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman has confirmed that the man was airlifted to hospital with 'serious injuries'.
She added: "We were called at 2.55pm on Sunday to an incident at a commercial property on Chapel Farm Industrial Estate on the Cwmcarn area of Newport.
"We sent two rapid response cars, a Community First Responder, an emergency ambulance and a Wales Air Ambulance to the scene.
"A man was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries."

A MAN was airlifted to hospital after falling 15ft in between machinery in a recycling unit in Cwmcarn earlier today.
Fire service crews from Aberbargoed were called to the Chapel Farm industrial estate at around 3.21pm on Sunday.
Crews assisted with the rescue of the man, who was in his 40s, before he was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales.
