A SEX pest caught wearing “shorts that were too short” in a supermarket has been jailed after exposing himself to two women inside a medical centre.

Ian Watkins, 57, was handed a 10-week suspended prison term after police spotted him wearing the shorts cut above the knee at Morrisons in Cwmbran, back in May.

Watkins, of Major Close, Cwmbran, was in breach of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order stopping him from wearing garments that are too short.

He has racked up 20 offences including one for gross indecency with a child in 2009 and another exposure in 2013, a court heard.

Last month, Watkins was back in the dock after exposing himself in front of two women in a waiting area in a medical centre.

Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court activated his 10-week jail term, suspended for a year, and gave him an additional 16 weeks for the new indecent exposure.

He was also given 16 weeks, to run concurrently, for the latest breach of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order, meaning his overall prison sentence is 26 weeks.

On Tuesday [Oct 13], Cwmbran Magistrates’ Court said Watkins had pleaded guilty to the breach of the order and the indecent exposure.

Court records also showed he has been ordered to pay an £180 criminal court charge plus and £80 surcharge.

The Crown Prosecution Service said the indecent exposure had happened on September 3 and he was sentenced on September 20.

In July, the Argus reported how a police officer spotted Watkins wearing the shorts cut above the knee at the supermarket on May 28.

The officer knew he had been given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

The five-year order imposed in 2013 meant he must not wear short trousers or shorts in a public area that fall above the knee.

The particular shorts Watkins wore at Morrisons had no lining and he was not wearing any underwear, Newport Magistrates’ Court heard.

During the hearing, his solicitor Sophie Toms said he had pleaded guilty to being in breach of the order by wearing the shorts, adding he had caused no harm and had shown remorse for his actions.
