A NEWBRIDGE artist has raised £4,000 for Children in Need after one of his live paintings was auctioned off at a charity night in London.
Patrick Killian, 41, got out his paint brushes at a charity gala night at Battersea Evolution earlier this month.
Among the celebrities to have attended were Strictly Come Dancing stars Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, pop group Scouting for Girls and Keane frontman Tom Chaplin.
The stunning painting took seven hours and raised £4,000 in a charity auction held at the end of the night.
Despite having attempted hundreds of similar live paintings in the past, Mr Killian said it was the most stressful he had ever done.
He said: “A lot of people don’t get to see artists doing stuff because a lot of them are stuck in their studio.
"Doing it live, speaking to the people coming up to me and telling them what the painting is about, that’s an important factor for a lot of artists.
“I sort of planned out what I was going to do. I knew that Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite would be there.
“I wanted to incorporate those elements in the painting so I could capture the night. It’s stressful because I was worried that it’s not going to make the money.”
