GWENT Police said they are continuing their appeal for information to find Kyle Vaughan following his terminally-ill mother's emotional plea last week - on the anniversary of his disappearance.

Mary Lucas, Kyle's mother, has been given just months to live following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Last week, she pleaded for new information which might give her some closure before it is too late.

Mr Vaughan, from Newbridge, disappeared on December 30, 2012, prompting a manhunt to find him.

Gwent Police re-iterated the desperate plea of Ms Lucas yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the force said they have received a number of calls which they are following up on as a result of the appeal for information on the third anniversary of Mr Vaughan's disappearance.

His silver Peugeot 306 was found abandoned on the A467, between Risca and Crosskeys, following a suspected collision, but Mr Vaughan was nowhere to be found.

Gwent Police fear Mr Vaughan could be dead but are working with his mother to provide some answers to the mystery.

Ms Lucas, 53, said she doesn’t know how long she has left to live and wants to know what happened to her son before she dies.

Ms Lucas was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer last year and is appealing for anyone with information in connection with the incident involving her only child to come forward.

Two men from Blackwood were arrested in January 2013, following the launch of a murder investigation, but were released in February that year with no further action.

Ms Lucas added: “I just want to ask anybody if they know anything or somebody who knows something to [put] themselves in my shoes as a mother, if their son went missing and died, what would they feel like?”

Anyone with information is urged to come forward, calling 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
