A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after an accidental house fire in Abercarn this morning.
The incident took place at a terraced house on Twyn Place at around 2.30am.
Two adults received treatment at the scene and one elderly casualty was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital. Their condition is not yet known.
Crews from Abercarn, New Inn and Aberbargoed attended the scene and used four breathing apparatus, two hosereel jets, a safety jet and ventilation to fight the blaze.
Crews conducted a thorough search of the house during the fire to check for people inside and neighbours were evacuated from their homes.
The crews left the scene at around 4.05am.
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and a crew in an emergency ambulance to the scene."
