OFTEN when we feature articles in the South Wales Argus what inspires us more than anything is the response from our readers.
In the case of a report we first featured last week this has proved to be the case.
The story featured the Young family from Abertillery who were left temporarily homeless following a fire in the early hours of the morning.
An electrical fault sparked a blaze which thankfully the family and their pets managed to escape.
Mrs Young, and her teenager boys Josh and Daniel were treated for smoke inhalation and its seems made a narrow but lucky escape from the fire which rendered their home inhabitable for at least the time being.
What has been so heartwarming about the incident is the response of their neighbours and the wider community. People have donated cash, clothing and other household items to help them furnish a flat they have been loaned by Tai Calon Housing Association.
Further, their local Tesco store has donated a £100 food shop which was delivered.
At a time when so many people are facing financial strain, it is lovely to see a community coming together in such a way and being so generous with their time and donations.
Well done to all concerned.
