ADULT LEARNER AWARDS PRESENTATION: On Wednesday, May 23, these awards took place at the Riverfront, Newport. Mr Gary Handley, from Coleg Gwent, opened the proceedings and certificates were presented to all who had qualified for these awards. Certificates were presented to all nominees at the end of the official awards. It was a pleasure to see these people who were presented with their awards and to know what they had achieved. The new Mayor, Councillor Alan Morris, and the Mayoress, Mrs Jane Morris, attended. The Mayor, Rosemary Butler AM and Councillor Trevor Watkins were among those who presented the awards to the successful students. It was an honour to have been invited and to participate in the presentation to celebrate the hard work that had gone into these awards.

FAREWELL TO A RESIDENT: DRATA would like to offer their condolences to the family of the late Yvonne Williams who was a resident of Duffryn for many years. The funeral took place at St Thomas Church, Cardiff Road, on Friday, May 25, and the service was attended by around 150 residents and friends from the estate. The local community will miss her support which she gave to the residents and she was always there to give advice and help when it was needed and fought for residents' rights on the estate.

WASTESAVERS' VISIT: There was a mistake in the printing of this last week as it was not a night visit but a daytime one. Also omitted was the councillor thanking Sarah Faraday for her hospitality and the speech on the forming of the company.
