A FAMILY in Torfaen are celebrating after recently welcoming its fifth-generation.

Just three weeks ago 19-year-old Amy Dash gave birth to Leon Andrews, and the young baby met his great-great-grandmother for the first time on Tuesday.

Joyce Booth, 86, from Blaenavon, now lives in Ty Ceirios Nursing Home on Pentrepiod Road in Pontnewynydd, and is said to be ‘thrilled’ to meet the youngest addition to her family.

Miss Dash gave birth at 11.15pm on Sunday, April 24 by emergency caesarean after suffering from excessive stress during labour, 13 days after he was due.

By her side was 21-year-old boyfriend Tyron Andrews and her mother who say both mother and baby are now in great health.

Grandmother Emma Dash, 35, said: “We are all ecstatic, I haven’t been able to calm down yet.

“It was all up in the air as Leon didn’t seem to want to apart from Amy and he still doesn’t, he seems to be a bit of a mummy’s boy.”

Ms Dash’s mother Angela Dash, 63, still lives in Blaenavon and the family have said they are ‘fortunate’ to continue to all live so close to each other.

Ms Dash works as a seamstress at Andrew Russell’s in Blaenavon with her mother, whilst Amy Dash has taken maternity leave from her training to be a hairdresser.

She met Mr Andrews after he started working for her mother’s boyfriend as a labourer.

New mother Miss Dash, said: “I was very nervous but it was all ok in the need. It’s been amazing and everyone has been excited to see him [Leon]. He has been quite an easy baby, sleeping through until 3am or 4am when I give him his bottle.”

Ms Dash added: “He has the same eyes as Amy from my father Graham and it’s just amazing that my Nan is still alive.”
