A FUNDRAISING group of Pontypool preschoolers took part in a sponsored non-stop singalong to raise money for baby charity Tommy's

Thirty young members of the Music Bugs South East Wales and their parents dressed up as their favourite characters at Little Mill Village Hall.

Music Bugs are classes for preschoolers aimed to help them grow and develop through music and song.

Another Music Bugs group took part in the initiative at Monmouth's Bridges Community Centre.

Both classes are aiming to do their part in a nationwide effort to raise £40,000 for the charity, and will find out how much they raised next month.

Funds raised by Music Bugs groups across the UK will help fund research into stillbirth, premature birth and miscarriage.

According to the charity, one in four UK parents lose a baby during a pregnancy or birth and 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year.

Jan Brewein, chief executive of Tommy's, said: “Singathon is a great way for parents and carers across the nation to involve their little ones in a good cause.

"Tommy’s relies on the generosity and hard work of its supporters like Music Bugs to continue its pioneering research to prevent pregnancy complications.

"We hope everyone taking part had a fantastic time.”
