A PET dog was rescued from a first floor flat and given oxygen after a “serious” flat fire in Blaenau Gwent this morning.
Three crews and fire engines from Abertillery, Brynmawr and Ebbw Vale fought a fire in a first floor flat on Valley View Road at 5.18am on Monday.
On arrival the crews said the flat, which is part of a block, was “well alight”.
Firefighters searched all flats in the block wearing breathing apparatus but fortunately all residents were safely out.
A pet dog was rescued from the flat by crews and given oxygen therapy before being taken to a vet.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said police and the fire service are this morning carrying out a joint investigation at the site to find out what happened.
