Newport brewers Tiny Rebel named best UK brewery

In addition to being named best UK brewery, the brewer also scooped three other medals at the International Beer Challenge. These included Gold medals for Cali and flagship beer Cwtch as well as a Bronze medal in the Stout and Porters category. Judged by leading industry figures the awards attracts entries from over 30 countries.

Fellow award-winners included the Australian Prancing Pony Brewery, Samuel Adams from the USA and Brazilian brewery, Cervejaria Colorado.

The Newport-based brewer has won a succession of prestigious awards this summer including medals at the Great British Beer Festival where they collected Silver in the Bitter category and Bronze in Best Bitter.

Organised by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the Great British Beer Festival is one of the most significant and well-attended beer festivals in the world. Of the hundreds of producers present, only eight – including Tiny Rebel – were formally invited to have a brewery bar at the event. The Tiny Rebel bar proved to be especially popular with over 15,500 glasses of beer enjoyed by visitors over the five days of the festival.

The brewery were honoured last year when their Welsh Red Ale, Cwtch, was named the Supreme Champion Beer of Britain.

Gazz Williams, co-founder and head brewer, who attended the festival, said: “Our bar at the Great British Beer Festival offered a great chance to showcase what we do to around 50,000 beer enthusiasts. Our beers Cwtch, Fubar and Hadouken, limited edition Stay Puft and our brand new Tropical Golden Ale – Juicy went down a storm."
