MONMOUTHSHIRE’S over 65s can now find out whether it is safe to sleep with their window open in the winter and if a warm bedroom is bad for their health.
The answers to those questions and others are included in a new leaflet from Age Cymru called ‘don’t leave yourself in the cold this winter’.
Age Cymru’s Spread the Warmth coordinator, Angharad Phillips, said: “It’s a common myth that sleeping with your window open during the winter is good for you, as is the idea that a warm bedroom is bad for your health.
“Sleeping with your window open during the winter months means you’re likely to breathe in cold air which raises the risk of chest infections, heart attack and strokes.
‘Don’t leave yourself out in the cold’ is available from the Age Cymru shop, Unit 4 Oldway Centre, Monmouth and by ringing Age Cymru Advice on 08000 223 444.
