FIRE crews battled a blaze in the cellar of a Newport pub yesterday.
Maindee and Malpas crews were called at 5.21pm to a building on Chepstow Road, Newport.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman confirmed the fire involved a tumble dryer in the building’s basement and caused smoke damage.
After extinguishing the fire, crews stayed on the scene to ventilate the building.
