NEWPORT County AFC manager Graham Westley does not know if Swansea City will opt to recall loan star Josh Sheehan next month.

Striker Rhys Healey will return to Cardiff City after tomorrow’s home clash with Exeter City and Westley is uncertain if midfielder Sheehan will be following him out of the door at Rodney Parade.

The pair have been a big hit since joining on loan from County’s South Wales neighbours in August.

Healey has hit seven goals in 21 appearances and Sheehan has six in 17.

Swansea’s decision to sack manager Bob Bradley this week means communication with the Premier League club is difficult and Westley is believed to have made plans to replace Sheehan if he is recalled.

“I don’t think there’s anything to be gained by speculating on any of the loanees,” said the Exiles boss.

“There’s always conversations between yourself and the loanee, the agent and the parent club.

“And the parent club, when it’s in transition from one manager to the next, might have a different view.

“These situations always take a bit of time and you might find a new manager wants to have a look at Josh, just as Neil [Warnock] wants to have a look at Rhys.

“You might find that there’s other clubs in for Josh in the same way there’s other clubs in for Rhys.

“You might find that Rhys and Josh are really happy with the way they’re being developed, have really enjoyed being developed the way they have and want to continue that progression.

“You never know what you’ll find when these things come to an end.

"You just have to be patient and see things out as time progresses.

“There’s no point in talking about it because you can’t speculate as to what the situation is going to be at our end or their end.

“It ends when it ends and at the moment you have to assume that the end is the end and if that changes so be it.”

Westley has already stated that he is looking to strengthen the spine of his team and that the forward positions are a priority with Healey unlikely to return from the Bluebirds.

The County boss has been linked with a move for Aaron Williams, who he signed when he was in charge at Peterborough United in January this year.

Williams, aged 23, started out at Walsall and has just completed a loan spell at former club Nuneaton Town in the National League North.

Scott Boden, who scored 15 goals to keep the Exiles in League Two last season before moving to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, is also rumoured to be on Westley’s radar.

And former County hero Craig Reid, who has signed for Westley twice before, is thought to be under consideration.

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock also revealed earlier this month that County were keen on “three other young lads from the under-23s.”

That could include the likes of left-back Rhys Abbruzzese, son of former County player David, central midfielders Tommy O'Sullivan and Lloyd Humphries and Cwmbran-born forwards Jamie Bird and Theo Wharton, who made his international debut for St Kitts & Nevis in November.
