A GWENT musician has received a British Empire Medal for her charitable and musical work.
Pamela Guy, of Risca, was presented with her award by the Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent, Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE, in a ceremony at the Caerphilly council offices in Ystrad Mynach on Monday.
Ms Guy, who studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music Drama, has served as musical director for the New Harmony Singers since it was established in 1979.
Ms Guy said: “I would like to pay tribute to my parents who sacrificed so much for me to learn the piano and the organ and supported me through college. Because of their support that I was able to use my training to raise so much money to help so many worthy causes.”
