FOUR people were taken to hospital in a serious condition after taking what they believed to be cocaine.
Three separate incidents took place in Newport were four people were hospitalised after taking the substance. They are now said to be making a recovery.
A Gwent Police spokes person said: "The incidents are reported to have occurred on Saturday evening and in the early hours of Sunday morning. Enquiries are on-going."
The force issued warned people about the dangers of drug use.
In a Facebook message the Gwent Police said "Four people in total were hospitalised after taking the substance but are now, thankfully, making a recovery."
They added: "We cannot stress enough how dangerous illegal drug use can be. You can never be sure exactly what you are taking, as these incidents have shown. Please be warned of the dangers."
Gwent Police issued an appeal for anyone with information about the supply of drugs or the incidents to call 101 quoting log number 45 4/2/17.
