TREDEGAR HOUSE FOLK FESTIVAL: There are many members of The National Trust, Members of Friends of Tredegar House and supporters who live in our community. So make a note in your diary that it will be the 28th Tredegar House Folk Festival and this is slowly creeping up on the engagement calendar.

It will be held over the weekend of May 12-14 and the festival will be the usual mix of free dance displays, top class concerts, lively ceilidhs, a real ale bar, a children`s entertainer, music sessions, workshops and costumed processions etc. These will all take place in the glorious grounds of Newport`s Tredegar House.

As well as all the usual local dance sides, old friends Matenik based at Prague, a group of school children from the small community of Jaupiebalga in Latvia, plus Batalon Hungarian dancers from London will add entertainment flavour.

Top musical artists include Jamie Smith`s Mabon, Allan-Yn-Fan, Cardboard Fox, Morfa, Jez Lowe and Steve Tilston, plus the Hut People to name just a few.

The festival fun starts on the Friday night with Newport Folk Club`s concert presenting Union Jill, or Ceilidh with Callers Pat and Ned.

Full details of all performers and events, plus ticket prices, can be found on the website tredegarhousefestival.org.uk.

There will be a mini Gwyl Plant for local school children on Saturday morning and remember, all dance displays on Saturday and Sunday afternoons are free to watch.
