GWENT Police have issued a warning following a spate of car thefts.

Officers are urging extra vigilance from residents to ensure that all vehicles are secured, with no items left on view.

It follows a number of theft from vehicles in Undy this week.

Items taken during the thefts have included an iPod Nano, a tool bag and an HP laptop.

Gwent Police are investigating the following offences:

•Barons Court – a blue Apple iPod Nano and two pairs of children’s sunglasses were taken from a vehicle parked in Barons Court after it was entered at some point between 6pm on Wednesday, and 1.15pm on Thursday.

•Apple Avenue - four items including a Severn Bridge TAG, a locking wheel nut, a pair of bright blue Adidas trainers with yellow stripes, and a large black Adidas gym bag were taken from a silver Ford Mondeo at some point between 7pm on Wednesday, and 6.30am on Thursday.

•Badgers Walk – a white Volkswagen Caddy van was entered at some point between 3pm on Wednesday, and 8.30am on Thursday, with a coat, a sat nav and tool bag containing hand tools taken.

•Teal Close – an HP laptop and £3 in loose change were taken from a vehicle at some point between 10pm on Wednesday, and 7am on Thursday.

Anyone with information about these incidents should call 101, quoting the following log references: Barons Court - 225 20/04/17; Apple Avenue - 86 20/04/17; Badgers Walk - 76 20/04/17 and Teal Close - 72 20/04/17.

Residents are also asked to report anything suspicious or anyone seen loitering in the areas affected to 101.
