THE Argus is hosting a local election hustings at the University of South Wales tomorrow evening.
The event at the university’s city campus will see representatives of six of the seven parties running candidates in next week’s council election field questions from the audience.
Candidates for Labour, the Conservatives, the newly-formed Newport Independents Party, Plaid Cymru, Ukip and the Green Party will appear at the event.
The Liberal Democrats are running 23 candidates in Newport, but declined an invitation to attend the hustings.

In total there are 164 candidates from seven parties, as well as two Independents, running for the 50 seats on Newport City Council in this year’s local government election, which will be .
This year’s council election will be held on Thursday, May 4.
