THE FAMILY of Newbridge man Kyle Vaughan who went missing more than four years ago will hold an emotional memorial for him this month.

Kyle Vaughan left home for the evening on December 30, 2012, with silver Peugeot 306 later discovered on the A467, between Risca and Crosskeys, following a suspected collision.

The 24-year-old was never seen again.

A presumption of death certificate was issued to Mr Vaughan’s family in October last year, by a High Court judge.

His auntie, Katherine Beddis, said the family had since been discussing the details of the memorial, which will include the unveiling of a headstone.

She also said his cancer-suffering mum, Mary, keen to say a proper goodbye.

“After we got confirmation of the death Kyle’s mum, Mary, wanted to do the memorial.” said Ms Beddis, “This was Mary’s decision.

“I know we haven’t actually found Kyle but Mary and the family thought a memorial would be for the best.

“It has been really hard for Mary but we need to do this for Kyle.”

She added: “I think Mary wanted the service to happen now because she wants to do it before she goes.

“She is suffering with cancer and is not very well.”

Ms Beddis, who lives in Newport, added she believes the memorial will give the family closure.

“This memorial service will give the family peace,” she said.

“You will never know how everyone felt the day Kyle disappeared.

“At the moment the family have been going up to the Risca bypass to pay respects and it’s quite dangerous there.”

“After the memorial we’ll have a proper place to go to, where we can go to think and talk about Kyle.”

The 56-year-old said that everyone is welcome to attend the memorial for Mr Vaughan.

“I know that a lot of friends and family will be coming,” said Ms Beddis.

“His friends will be talking about the funny and good times with Kyle.

“We will also see the headstone put up on the day - that will be emotional.”

The memorial will be held at St John’s Church in Maindee on May 23.

Two men from Blackwood were arrested in January 2013 in connection with Mr Vaughan’s disappearance, following the launch of a murder investigation, but were released in February that year with no further action.
