POLICE are on the hunt of car thieves after a Land Rover Freelander worth around £18,000 was stolen from Caerleon, Newport.

The vehicle, a white 2012 model Land Rover Freelander, was allegedly stolen from Backhall Street between 3am and 7am on Friday morning.

Owner Mark Tomlinson said the car had around £3,500 worth of computer equipment inside, which he uses as owner of the business Country Connect.

A brand new patio set was also stolen from the vehicle, while Mr Tomlinson also believes thieves attempted to steal from his BMW as one of the back door windows was found ajar.

"I've got no idea how they stole it," said Mr Tomlinson, 32, who bought the car second hand for £21,000 three years ago.

"It was parked on the street. We've still got the one set of keys for it.

"They must have known what they were doing."
