STARS of stage, screen and sports teed off at the first day of a charity golf tournament.

The two day annual Celebrity Cup, which is held at the Celtic Manor Resort, attracts some big names to compete for their nations and raise money for charity.

The sun shone on the course which is in the grounds of the luxury resort. There was plenty of banter on an off the green as teams from Wales, England, Ireland and Scotland competed against each other for the much sought after prize.

Representing Wales at the two day event are Rob Brydon, Gareth Bale, Gethin Jones, Jonathan Davies, Gareth Edwards and Craig Bellamy.

Ireland is represented by Ronan Keating, James Nesbitt, Brian McFadden, Keith Duffy, George McMahon, and Keith O’Neill.

Mike Tindall, Bradley Walsh, Peter Jones, Anton Du Beke, Denise Van Outen and Kelvin Fletcher have crossed the border to represent England.

While Rory Lawson, Max Evans, Thom Evans, Eve Muirhead, Allan Wells and Michael Jamieson are representing Scotland, the team that won last year’s competition.

As well as the golf there is live music, food and bar areas for people to enjoy. This evening’s Gala Dinner will also raise funds for the Marie Keating Foundation, the charity which was set up in honour of Ronan Keating’s mother to promote cancer awareness and the importance of early cancer detection.
