THE schedule for this year's Newport Big Splash has been revealed with organisers Newport Live promising it will be as "intriguing, outlandish and bonkers as normal" and will offer families lots to see and do.

The Big Splash will be taking over Newport city centre from Saturday 22 to Sunday 23 July. There will be performances in six Big Splash zones, creating one large outdoor stage in the city centre.

Funding from Newport Live, Newport City Council and the Arts Council of Wales and sponsorship from Friars Walk, Kingsway Centre, Newport NOW and Western Power Distribution has enabled the family street theatre festival to return to Newport.

On 3, 10 and 17 August, Sport in the Park will return to outdoor spaces in Newport to offer outdoor sports and activities for families, including; football, rugby, netball, squash, cycle tots, rounders, tennis, athletics, and golf.

The first event will be at the Newport International Sports Village on Thursday 3 August, followed by Rogerstone Welfare Ground on Thursday 10 August and finally Beechwood Park on Thursday 17 August, all at 11am-4pm. Entry will cost £3 per child or £5 for two children and Adults get in free. Once you have paid the entry fee all activities in the event will be free.

There will be a Tots' Fun Day at Newport Centre on Thursday 24 August. Games, music and taster sessions in Aqua Tots, Cheer Tots, Cycle Tots, Dance Tots, Golf Tots, Rugby Fun, Music Tots and Soccer Tots to name but a few will be on offer throughout the day (11am-3pm).

Entry will cost £4 per child and £2 per extra sibling. Once you have paid entry all activities within the event will be free.

Alongside these large celebrations, Newport Live will also be offering a host of other activities for all ages in its Holiday Fun programme, including family film screenings and workshops at The Riverfront, free swimming and aquatic classes in all of its leisure centres and a Sport and Art day camp.
