A NEWPORT bingo has made a donation of £3,500 towards this year’s Mayor charities.

The Mayor of Newport, Councillor David Fouweather, has chosen to support St David’s Hospice Care, Motivation and Learning Trust (MLT) and Amazing Grace Spaces during this year.

Castle Bingo, in Usk Way, presented the cheque to the Mayor and his wife, Paula, at the bingo last week.

During their visit, they met some of the club’s most loyal members - such as Jean Flower (pictured).

A spokeswoman for Castle Bingo said: “Uskway opened in 1996 and has supported the Mayor’s charities since the beginning.

“Our members donate generously throughout the year and our teams of managers and staff often have specific fundraising events- some have recently climbed Pen- Y- Fan.

“In the past they have done bike rides, amongst others. We even had one manager doing a marathon.”

Cllr Fouweather said: "The very generous donation from Castle Bingo was collected by the players at the Newport venue.

"I would like to thank the owner, staff and clients for this donation it shows that Castle Bingo really are a company that has Newport at its heart."
