TAKE a look at what went on at the inaugural South Wales Argus Health and Care Awards official launch event.

Health minister Vaughan Gething backed the awards with a speech at the Royal College of Nursing in Cardiff and said it was important to highlight the “life-enhancing, life-changing and lifesaving” work of the healthcare industry by saying “thank you”.

The aim is to celebrate inspirational and dedicated workers in the health and care industry, and were launched this morning with support from the Welsh Government and a host of sponsors.

Health care professionals can nominate staff and organisations in award categories, and members of the public can nominate in the GP Practice of the Year award category and the Health Care Professional of the Year category.

The 15 award categories are:

l GP Practice of the Year

l Health Care Professional of the Year

l Early Years Award

l Healthy Neighbourhood Award

l Best Patient and Public Involvement Award

l Volunteer of the Year

l Third Sector or Community Team of the Year

l Mental Health Team of the Year

l Hospital Team of the Year

l Health Campaign of the Year

l Best Innovation Award

l Research Impact Award

l Together we Achieve Award

l Outstanding Achievement Award
