AN ARGUS reporter will be abseiling down the Newport Transporter Bridge on Saturday to raise funds for a Gwent hospice.

Estel Farell-Roig will be one of the people taking part in an abseil from the bridge to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care as part of the paper’s 125 Appeal.

The 23-year-old said that, with a few days to go, the nerves are starting to kick in now.

She said: “I am beginning to feel a bit nervous, particularly about the climb.

“I think the actual abseil will be really fun, even if my heart will be racing.”

The Barcelona-born reporter has raised £277 so far and will be holding a lunch sale on Thursday, October 5 to raise more funds.

Ms Farell-Roig said she has received a t-shirt from the hospice because she has raised more than £100 already.

“I hope I can raise as much as money as I can,” she added.

The reporter is looking for individuals and companies to sponsor her. So far, sponsors include Chepstow Racecourse, who made a £50 donation to her fundraising page, and an anonymous sponsor, who donated the same amount.
