NEWPORT is one of the most difficult places in the UK to take out loans or credit cards, research has revealed.
Research by credit score provider TotallyMoney showed Newport ranked fifth lowest in the country in an assessment of overall borrowing power, the ability of people to take out credit.
Wales also ranked below the other three countries of the UK, followed by Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland at the top.
Swansea ranked last in the UK for the ability of people to access credit, followed by Brighton, west central London and Dundee. Cardiff ranked ninth lowest.
The top ten was dominated by suburbs of London, with Kingston, Twickenham and Bromley in the top three, followed by south west London and Oxford.
