FITNESS and fundraising will go hand in hand for a special 125 Appeal fundraiser.

Inspired by the work of a local hospice, the Nuffield Health Club in Cwmbran will host a 12.5 hour spinathon to raise money for our 125 Appeal.

As well as the challenge they will be running classes throughout the day.

People can spin for the whole 12.5 hours or can opt to take part in one of the classes which are happening throughout the day.

The health club’s deputy general manager, Nyran Bird said: “We are usually a members only club, but we are opening our doors and allowing guests and noon-members take part in the event.

“People can just turn up on the day and we will do a quick pre-exercise questionnaire to make sure people are fit and healthy and they can jump on a bike and take part.

Mr Bird will be leading the classes and early risers can join the first class which starts at 6.30am.

Classes will then take place throughout the day and anyone is welcome to join in.

The team will be fundraising for the 125 Appeal which was launched to celebrate the South Wales Argus’ 125 anniversary.

The appeal is raising funds for St David’s Hospice Care to help cover the costs of the huge range of services that the hospice delivers.

This is the first time the gym has raised money for the hospice and they wanted to do a challenge that reflected the 125 theme.

Mr Brid said that the challenge won’t be easy.

He added: It will be a demanding challenge, both physically and mentally. Ideally people will have spun before and hydration is vital. “

On average 600 members use the facilities at the club, which is located on Wilcrick Place, each day. Members of staff will be running fundraising activities throughout the gym to raise money for the appeal.

For more information about the event and to find out how you can get involved contact the health club on 01633 504743.

If you are inspired by the health club you can also join our appeal.

We still need fundraising teams to join our appeal to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care.

If you can think of a fun, innovative or quirky ways you can use the 125 theme to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care then we would love to hear about them.

Whether you want to hold a 125 themed bake sale or cycle 125 miles, we need you to join us to raise funds for the hospice and mark our 125 year anniversary.

We want to raise as much money as possible for the hospice so they can continue their work.
