THOUSANDS of people across the UK have shared the plight of four "traumatised" Labradors who were found abandoned in Monmouthshire.

The four dogs, a male and female adult and two pups, were said to be found on the doorstep of a Whitebrook house in the early hours of Friday, October 27.

They were reported to be found without microchips and in an "exhausted and bedraggled" condition before being taken by a Monmouthshire County Council dog warden.

A council spokesman said: "The council’s dog warden service recovered the abandoned dogs from premises at Whitebrook and has held them for the statutory seven days to allow the owner to come forward.

"The statutory period has now passed so the council will rehome the dogs in partnership with the Four Paws Animal Rescue charity."

A post on Facebook has been shared by nearly 5,000 people and has attracted hundreds of comments.

The charity has since picked up the dogs from the kennels, with a spokesperson adding that they were in "poor condition" but that they are receiving treatment.

Once assessed and treated, they will be available to be rehomed.
