A VINTAGE store which was forced to close has made a home in a new location.

Black Bear Vintage closed its Commercial Street outlet in August due to “issues with the building”.

Owner Christopher Baldwin has now opened the store at 26 Skinner Street in Newport.

Mr Baldwin said: “I love the new property and our neighbours in the surrounding shops have been more than welcoming. It’s just no spreading the word in the hope we can stay and build on what we have.

"It’s been a struggle to get there, but well worth it. It’s a much nicer building and in a much more accessible area. On the whole very positive."

He added: "We will be open throughout the week and on the weekend selling vintage, retro and old school clothing.

"We hope our customers will appreciate the hundreds of new products we have available."

Mr Baldwin added that he would like to see people supporting independent stores like his own.

He said: "I’m a proud resident of Newport and want to see the city achieve its full potential. That begins with the City Centre.

"We want visitors, customers and residents to feel local and to come out and support local trade."
