NOMINATIONS have been coming in for the South Wales Argus Schools and Education Awards, and we can now reveal the host for the 2018 awards event.

Roy Noble, one of Wales’ most popular broadcasters, will host the evening which will celebrate award finalists on March 8 at Chepstow Racecourse.

Best known for his work with BBC Radio Wales, Mr Noble knows first hand the amazing work that goes on in schools.

He spent his early career in education and he was the head teacher of two primary schools in Powys.

He also attained several bursaries and a Page Scholarship to study education systems in Germany and in eight regions in the USA.

A move to broadcasting saw him work in the Welsh and English language as a presenter on radio and television.

He has gone on to win a Sony Award in radio and a Royal Television Society Award as Regional Presenter of the Year on television.

The South Wales Argus Schools and Education Awards is being held in partnership with the University of South Wales and there are 15 award categories which aim to recognise the extraordinary commitment and dedication that so many staff bring to education every day.

You can nominate people working within the Gwent area of Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Newport and Caerphilly.

If you know someone who fits into an award category you can nominate via our website until 5pm on January 12.
