A SEAL has been spotted swimming in the River Usk by a member of the public.
The animal was seen by Argus reader Stewart Holtom who works on the safety boat on the river at the rail bridge - which is just next to Newport bridge.
Mr Holtom said the seal has been by the rail bridge and near Newport bridge since Tuesday and that he has seen it every day.
He said: "It's a fantastic thing to see, he looks like a young seal and I've seen him eating eels and fish."
