CHILDREN in Yate and the surrounding areas will be able to take part in a free treasure hunt on Easter Monday.

The event is open to all children under the age of twelve and will form a part of Yate Town Council's annual Easter Extravaganza, which takes place on Monday, April 2 between 10am and 12pm.

All participating children will be awarded a chocolate egg at the end of the hunt, although this is subject to availability.

There will be a separate area for those aged five and under to take part in the Easter celebrations.

An Easter Bonnet competition and parade will take place at 11am, and a prize will be awarded to the child with the best bonnet.

The Easter Extravaganza event takes place each year and is hosted by Yate Town Council in conjunction with Friends of Kingsgate Park - a group of residents who help the council to manage the open green space.
