A TV SERIES going inside the cordon with Gwent Police's dedicated forensic collision investigators will be starting in BBC One Wales next week.

The Crash Detectives will start on Monday, April 16 at 8.30pm.

A spokeswoman for the BBC said that, across Britain, millions of cars clock up billions of miles, and every week 500 people are killed or seriously injured on the roads.

She added: "When the emergency services have left the scene of a collision, an expert team of investigators begin the essential work of piecing together the evidence left behind in order to discover the truth.

"From crash site to custody suite, Gwent Police's forensic collision investigation unit examines more than 100 serious and fatal crashes across the busy roads of the force’s area every year."

The spokeswoman said they have been given exclusive access, with cameras having spent two years inside the police cordon, following the team in their pursuit to reveal the story behind each incident.

"From the painstaking analysis of the scene, to finding and recording the evidence, this is a compelling insight into the work required to reconstruct the way crashes unfold," she added.
